Advertising Policies

General Policy

Your print ads must directly relate to the product, service, or other business offer that you're advertising. When readers see your ad, they should be able to understand what you offer. Products or services promoted in your ad must be accurately represented; ads can be disapproved if a promoted offer is not available as promised.

Your print ads must adhere to these guidelines and be approved before they can be published in newspapers. Reachwide.com reserves the right to deny service to anyone and disqualify any ad without having to disclose the reasons.

As a basic rule, use clear, descriptive, and specific ad content that highlights the differentiating characteristics of your product or service. You can distinguish your ad by including your company name, line of business, or by highlighting a specific product.

Content Policy

Following types of ad bookings are strictly prohibited through Reachwide.com: Advertisements containing messages to promote Adult & Sexual Content, Alcohol, Bulk Marketing, Counterfeit Goods, Drugs and Narcotics, Escort Services, Gambling, Prostitution, Solicitation of Funds, Tobacco/Cigarettes & Weapons.

Classified Display and Display Ads Policy

Ad Size

Size your ad to the measurements of the purchased ad space.

Ads are accepted within +/- 5% of the height and width limits of the ad size you purchased as set by the publisher.

Before saving your finalized ad, set the document size to match the exact dimensions of your placement. Or, you can include crop marks or a trim box when exporting your file to designate the exact size and dimensions of your ad. Crop marks are not required if your file is sized correctly.

Color

Submit a compliant color ad if you book a color placement.

o If you do not purchase a color ad placement:
  • Your ad will run in grayscale. Images and ads submitted in color will be converted to grayscale.

o If you purchase a color ad placement:
  • All color ads should be submitted in CMYK (sometimes referred to as process color or four color). Reachwide.com does not accept RGB, 'spot,' or other special color formats. If a PDF files for a color placement is not submitted in CMYK, it will be converted into CMYK.
  • When combined, the four darkest color areas should not exceed 240% coverage. For example, combining 100% Cyan, 50% Magenta, 0% Yellow, and 10% Black would result in a total coverage of 160% (100+50+0+10=160).
  • Do not use four-color values for black (C=100%, M=100%, Y=100%, K=100%). Instead, change all your black colors to C=0%, M=0%, Y=0%, K=100%.
  • Images for color files must have a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch).
  • If your text uses more than one color or knockout type, we recommend you make the type bold and more than 12pt in size. Keep in mind that flattened or rasterized type in artwork will print in lower clarity, so always embed your fonts where possible.

Dot Gain

Don't use embedded dot gain profiles.

Do not embed dot gain profiles in your ad. Color or dot gain profiles will be removed and replaced with publisher-specific standard profiles.

If you use dot gain profiles that are not embedded, follow these approximate guidelines for newsprint:

o Dot gain greater than 95% will appear as black.
o Dot gain less than 2% will appear as white.
o In highlight and shadow areas, a gain of 5-8% occurs.
o In the midtones, a gain of 18-22% occurs.

File Format

Submit ads as PDF files with the required settings.

o Only PDF (Portable Document Format) files are accepted. Ads submitted as JPG, GIF, TIFF, EPS, and other file formats are not accepted.
o Make sure to embed all fonts in your final PDF or convert them to outlines.
o PDF files should be exported with at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) resolution.
o All export settings should be set to print resolution requirements.
o Do not use vector transparencies in your file.
o Export your PDF from your layout program or use Adobe Acrobat Distiller to create a PDF according to PDF/X-1a specifications (learn how).

Image Quality

Use high-quality images that meet our resolution standards.

o Images used in your PDF should have 300 DPI resolution.
o Ad images must be clear and recognizable.

We reserve the right to disapprove ads that use low quality or blurry images.

Image Rights

Obtain proper legal rights for the images you use.

Before uploading your ad, please be sure that you have all the necessary legal rights to distribute the ad's contents, including the rights to any images and logos being used. It is your responsibility to comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations that govern trademarks and copyrights in India.

Text & Font

Use correct font formats and text sizes.

o Embed all fonts in your final PDF.
o Do not use bitmap fonts.
o Do not use type smaller than 7pt in your file. For reversed type, use type greater than 10pt.

Font tips:

In general, sans serif fonts are preferred in newspapers. Type faces with thin or delicate strokes should be avoided as they can drop out in print. For optimal print clarity, create all of your text in a layout program (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Quark). If you use Photoshop to create your ad, please ensure that all of your type is vector-based and that related fonts are embedded in your final PDF.

Application of our policies will always involve an element of discretion and we reserve the right to reject or approve any ads. As noted in our Terms & Conditions, you represent and warrant that your advertisements comply with all applicable laws.
